foundation pt1: beetle wallpaper

A few summers ago in Italy, i found a rose beetle curled up in the middle of the road. It was still alive, just, lying on the sun warmed tarmac unable to drag itself somewhere safer and cooler. I picked it up and placed it in the evening shadows of a grassy garden but the next day when i went to check if it had flown away i found it on it's back, dried and dead, gleaming in the hot morning sun.
it was incredibly beautiful, and i made this wallpaper by silk screening some of my sketches of it onto lining paper. I'm sure i made up some rubbish about how turning beetle carcasses into wallpaper was challenging conventions of what is beautiful when i presented this.... but for me it's more about that day and the actual beauty of the beetle itself.
